A QUICK BIOG

The Other Place is run by me,  Carys Davis, a public affairs consultant and trainer with twenty years' experience in politics and public affairs. I've worked, consulted and trained for businesses, trade bodies, regulators, charities, social enterprises and universities.

Before setting up The Other Place nearly 10 years ago, I worked for:

• two front-bench MPs as a caseworker/campaigner and Parliamentary Researcher
• a UK political party as a Policy Adviser on the Environment, Food & Rural Affairs portfolio
• the leader of the Maldivian Democratic Party as a political consultant 
• two national charities, running their public affairs functions
• the Financial Conduct Authority as its Public Affairs Manager.

And before entering the world of politics  in 2005, I was a waitress, cleaner, bartender and  TV production assistant.

I trained as a broadcast journalist at postgraduate level and hold an MA (Distinction) in Human Rights.

I like: animals, cricket, solo travelling, adding cardamom to coffee.

I dislike: dodgy grammar (irritating),  dangling (undignified) and nesting tables (unsettling).

I am a Member and Accredited Practitioner of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations and abide by their Code of Conduct.
